New Year resolutions

Now that New Year is just around the corner, it’s time to start on next year’s resolutions.

1. Spend less time online
It’s bad enough that I spend about 8-10 hours a day in front of the computer at work and when I get home, more often that not I find myself online on my laptop. My mom complains that I spend more time communicating online that I do with the people I live with :P

2. Lose weight and eat healthy

3. Make more money :)

4. Be a nicer person (haha)

5. Seriously reconsider my career path

Chinese New Year already?

You know Chinese New Year is coming up when you start to see CNY deco and songs playing when you go out. I was out today and while most shops still had Christmas deco up and Christmas-y songs playing in the background, a handful of shops were already playing CNY songs!! Christmas ain't over yet, but I guess some folks are just too eager to usher in the Year of the Rat.

The balls of my feet are aching cos I walked for almost 10 hours today. I ate so much today [not to mention the past few weeks of yearend festive binging] I think my first resolution for the year should be to lose weight :) At least I stayed sober today. Haha :P

Another long weekend

It's been a rather dull week hence the lack of posting. I was back at work for 2 days this week and it was pretty quiet. Which was good cos it gave me the opportunity to blog from work. Heh heh. I'm off on a 3 day weekend. Time to start working on next year's resolutions...

This came in the mail for me yesterday from a fren in Jakarta. This ad was in response to several countries' travel warnings not to visit Indonesia. I like the simple design with the clever tagline. As some of you may already know, I'm planning a trip to Jakarta in mid January with some frens. I can't wait cos it's been a long while since I last travelled. I'm just itching to travel again :P

Thanks Anett !!

Boxing Day surprise

It seems to me everyone is on Facebook these days. I activated my Facebook account several months back but I’m not the sort who spends hours on it. I’ve read that some people are so addicted to it they are constantly on their FB. So much so that in many workplaces around the world, FB is banned.

I was online yesterday and got a lil bored so I went on FB and decided to look up my old classmates. I’m terrible at keeping in touch with old frens.. you would not believe that I had forgotten most of my former classmates’ names :P Just the other day at work I got a call from a Bank and the person on the other line was asking a work related matter.. right before she hung up she asked “do u remember me? I’m so and so.. we went to school together” My mind drew a blank LOL.

Well anyways, back to the FB story. I found a guy matching an old classmate’s name. He had a display pic but heck it was so small I couldn’t make out the face clearly. And I’ve not seen him since he moved to Canada 15 years ago! I sent him a message anyway thinking I probably got the wrong guy. When I checked my FB mailbox this morning there was a reply.. he was indeed my former primary classmate. Amazing! What a pleasant surprise :) Funny thing was he remembers me [this guy used to sit beside me in class and copied my timestable in math class many many many many years ago :P] and he had tried looking me up several months back [since I don't use my full name on FB it's gonna be tricky for people to track me down there unless they have my email address]

Now if I could only remember my former kindergarten classmates’ names.. I’d have a field day on FB.. LOL.

Merry Christmas!!

WISHING YOU A BLESSED CHRISTMAS and may this festival bring abundant joy and happiness in your life!!

I hope ya'll got my Christmas cards in time. Sorry I was a little late this year. If you didn't get yours then it's probably cos I forgot :P

I stumbled on this site which is a Blog Readability Test - if you type in your blog URL it'd be able to tell you what level of education is required to understand your blog. There are various levels from elementary to high school and college (undergrad and postgrad) to genius, which presumably is the highest level.

Yours truly scored a GENIUS level *smug*

Christmas eve snooze

I awoke at nearly midday today. Slept for a (mostly) solid ten hours last night for the first time in weeks. I was so knackered last night I crashed onto bed and dozed off instantaneously. Even babies don't sleep this well :P
When I switched on my cellphone, there were numerous text messages and missed calls from work. It's Christmas eve people.. cut me some slack k on my day off!!
I got dragged out of bed for lunch.. still groggy from all that sleep. Today everywhere in the city is packed with swarms of people.. probably last minute shopping for Christmas pressies.
on Christmas eve all Christmas decos go for half price!

4-day weekend

These donuts are all the rage now in KL. Yup I'm talking about J.Co Donuts. If you've been to KL Pavilion where its first ever flagship shop in Malaysia opened just 3 months ago, you would have noticed the seemingly endless Q. In fact on my first visit to Pavilion I was tempted to try them but was put off by the queue. I don't have the patience to queue 40 minutes for a box of donuts :P

The donuts are sinfully sweet. Aside from that, they're pretty tasty actually cos they're really soft and fluffy. Just the way I like 'em.

a box of half dozen J. Co donuts.

Calorie-filled sweetness that go straight to your waistline.

I hear they are planning to expand their donut empire to Singapore next.

On another note, I bought a new pair of Converse today. Will be hitting the streets soon in them :)

Value for money Japanese food? Think again.

I Am Legend

It's been awhile since I last went to the cinema and I caught "I Am Legend" today. It was rather intense but enjoyable (if you like zombie flicks). Just think "28 Days Later" in New York City with Will Smith [which incidentally was also inspired by the book "I Am Legend" by Robert Matheson].

The movie revolves around Smith, a plague survivor who may be the last living human working to find a cure to save humankind and is constantly pursued by the dark seekers i.e those zombies. Not exactly your typical holiday season movie though it did break the record for the biggest December opening ever. [Whatever happened to the good ol' fashioned Santa flicks eh?]

Will Smith carried the movie pretty well. He's like the only person you're gonna see onscreen for almost the entire running time [well the sidekick doggie and those zombies don't count] so if you don't like the guy you'd better stay away. But you may just like the ending LOL.

TFI Friday

It’s Friday.. and my 4-day weekend is coming up.. Woohoo!! Am looking forward to some time off work and catching up on Loco Roco on the PSP. If you haven’t played it, you really should check it out. Be warned though.. it’s highly addictive.

It’s the cutest game EVER. If there was a cuteness factor I’d rate it 10/10. LOL. Can’t get any cuter than that. Last night I played non-stop for hours till my fingers and wrists were numb :P

My fingers are gonna fall off soon.

Christmas wishlist

Christmas is just around the corner and I've finally finalised my Christmas wishlist for Santa. LOL. It took me awhile to narrow the list down to 3 :)

OK first up on my wishlist is:
Sony Ericsson W910i cellphone

Actually my SE W580i is barely 3 months old. Maybe I should have held back on buying the W580i and waited out for the W910i instead cos this comes with 3G and the HSDPA. It's also a wee bit slimmer than my current W580i.

Next up I want an all expense paid trip to Taiwan with ticket to the following event:

Mayday's first gig of 2008 at National Taiwan University Stadium on 1st Jan from 01:00AM to 06:00AM. Whoa now how cool is that?!! Party till sunrise! Only less than 1400 tickets are up for sale and they cost only a mere NT1499!!!

And finally, I think it's high time I change my camera. I'm still skeptical about BenQ digital cameras but Ashin has been using this particular model DC T800 to snap pics for his blog with very impressive results. They are amazingly sharp and clear. Apparently the DC T800 is currently the world's slimmest 8 megapixel camera with a 3-inch touch screen display.

Just another boring day at work...

It's nearly 5:ooPM on a Wednesday evening at work.. Tomorrow is a holiday.. yay!! Time for me to catch up on some much needed ZZz's.

Yearend is my favourite time of the year cos holidays are aplenty.. from Raya, Deepavali to Christmas and New Year.. this year we've even got Hari Raya Haji in between :) It's also bonus time (speaking of which.. where's mine? Need to harass my boss :P) Work is generally slow this time of the year so it's the best time to clear accumulated annual leave.. though I have only 2 days left which I plan to take next week.
