Slashed

Slashed starring Ash and half of Coldplay

Many years ago in a place far from here Ash made a slasher flick while they were on tour. Now we know just what bands get up to when they're bored and on tour.. they film horror flicks and get their famous mates to star in it and the lead singer to run around in white briefs. LOL.

I remember seeing a picture of Tim and Charlotte in bed from Slashed some years back in an article in NME. Slashed was stored away for years and finally saw the light of day when it was released on the band's official site - Ashofficial.com

It's ridiculously funny, violent and gory. Poor Rick got bludgeoned to death (why do they always go after the drummer first?) Charlotte died a horrible death in the bath tub - what a way to kill of the chick.. so cliche.

Also appearing in Slashed are Coldplay's Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland playing the Sherlock and Dr Watson roles. LMAO. Isn't it ironic that Chris' wife recently starred in a movie with the guy who played Sherlock?

「3DNA」

lights, camera, action!
If you think Avatar 3D was awesome, wait till Mayday blow you away with their concert in 3-D. It'll kick Jake Sully's blue @$$ back to Pandora (I think Ashin had in mind to kick a Hallyu @$$ back to Korea LOL)

Mayday are set to film Asia's first ever concert movie in 3D. Over a billion NTD will be spent to shoot the concert @.@ Test filming have already begun and the main & final shoot will be on 24/7 at Taichung 「3DNA」concert. If you haven't already got ticket for that, another 8,000 tickets for the standing area will be on sale on 30 May.

「3DNA」is expected to be screened early of next year and might just hit a cinema near you!

Khalil down under

Each time I see a D.N.A tour date, this guy's show is almost always listed beside Mayday. Khalil Fong and Fiona Sit played San Francisco and/or LA the week after Mayday. I had a huge stash of Khalil and Fiona San Francisco concert flyers from Elly's friend at the DNA San Jose concert. I left them behind at the hotel and brought home only the Mayday flyers XD

The duo are heading down under in early August, playing 3 shows back to back in Sydney (6 August 2010 at Sydney Entertainment Centre), Adelaide (7 August 2010 at Adelaide Entertainment Centre) and Melbourne (8 August 2010 at Palais Theatre).

Khalil will be performing in Genting the weekend before Mayday's KL concert. Hmm.. I don't get why he needs a sidekick (Fiona) for his shows outside Asia.

Wuhan D.N.A 22/5 - the fall

Last night's D.N.A concert in Wuhan was the final Mainland gig for the world tour. Other than the usual DNA setlist, the band slipped in 小太陽 which Ashin mentioned in his blog that it was partly for sponsor reason.

Poor Ashin took a fall when doing his customary spin during the end of 人生海海. Click here to view fan vid of the fall.

Fatigue has obviously taken its toll on them. They've been on the road since kicking off the 2010 DNA Unlimited tour in early April. Next week they're playing 4 nights at Hong Kong's Coliseum. One can only wonder how tired they're gonna be by the time they reach KL the following week.

D.N.A 2009-2010 World Tour gigography

All good things must come to an end. After 14 months, the D.N.A World Tour is set to return home to Taiwan for a grand finale at Taichung on 24 July 2010.

I've listed the entire gigography for the world tour (did I miss any stops?) Of the total 42 concerts, I would have attended 17 of them by the end - which is about 40% of the tour. Not bad eh? :)

Bangkok dangerous

I got to know this evening from my friend in Bangkok that Central World was set on fire in the afternoon by rioters. I spent some time shopping there during my trip to Bangkok in March 2009. It was walking distance from the hotel I stayed in Pratunam area and along the way we stopped to have dinner by the sidewalk, right before reaching Central World. Best som tum I've ever had in my life.

Situation in Bangkok is worsening. Telephone signals were out today. The Thai government have declared curfew tomorrow. May 17 and 18 which were declared as holiday have now been extended to the end of the week to keep people off the streets for their safety. I hope my friends in Bangkok are safe.

Art, Jib, Tangmo, Fern and Nuch, if you guys are reading this... stay safe!

It's official - no additional Taichung concert :)

Late last night (or very early this morning, depending on how you see it XD) B'in Music issued a follow-up statement announcing that there will NOT be an additional Taichung concert.

7/24台中演唱會為最終場 無加場

The vast majority of fans (including yours truly) are relieved - I don't think any of us would wanna go through another round of ticket war!

Don't believe the truth

B'in Music issued a statement today evening titled "Please do not believe the unofficial news" in response to the news about an additional Taichung concert that caused an uproar.

Despite the announcement, some fans are still skeptical as the official announcement did not state that "there won't be a second show" @.@

As much as I want to see more of them, I'm not in favour of an additional show. The 724 show was announced as the final [最終場] show and they should just end the world tour in a single grand finale.

Taichung D.N.A ticket war

It's been a(nother) busy week. Tickets for the 24/7 Taichung D.N.A concert went on sale at 5:55PM this past Tuesday. A total of 30,000 tickets were up for grabs, and they were completely snapped up within a couple of hours. So what else is new?

Buying 五月天 Taiwan concert tickets is almost always a frustrating ordeal LOL. Hope everyone managed to get their tickets.

Anyone who has bought tickets for the previous Taipei and Kaohsiung D.N.A concerts the past year would know what an arduous tiring process ticket buying can be.

Good luck everyone!

In-N-Out Burger

Continuing my saga on great American food.. In-N-Out Burger is not to be missed if you're visiting California. They're an American fast food chain of restaurants with outlets only in west coast US selling yummy burgers to die for!

I didn't know of their existence until my travel buddy sunset2712 told me about it upon hearing it from her brother's American friends.

So when we got to California, we made a point to try their infamous burger. The closest outlet to our hotel was at Sunset Boulevard.

In-N-Out at Sunset Blvd

The menu was simple. They only sell hamburger, cheeseburger and double double (double meat & double cheese). I later came to know that you could order customised burgers e.g jungle style with more vege.

We both had the double double. I had the highly recommended chocolate shake which I thought was overrated. The burger itself, was in a class of its own. It was juicy and tasty. And best of all it was inexpensive! Our bill of two double double, drinks and fries came up to only a little over $12. Nothing beats a satisfying inexpensive meal.

Definitely the best fast food hamburger place that I have ever been to :)

* Thank you sunset2712 for the photos. My photos were deleted because I had absent-mindedly forgot to switch my SD card before the LA D.N.A concert. Had to delete all my photos :(

Good old-fashioned American chocolate: See's Candies

I discovered some really good American food on my second trip to the States :) I don't know where to begin blogging about them cos there are so many LOL but I'm gonna start off with chocolates, my ultimate favourite comfort food.

Elly introduced me to See's Candies, which is an American candy manufacturer based in western US (mainly in San Francisco and Los Angeles). They sell an assortment of lollipops but their main product are chocolates. I've never heard of See's Candies prior to my last trip, but since they were highly recommended by my American friend, I decided to buy some, most of which were given away as gifts when I got home except for this box of assorted milk chocolate:

Packaging was very simple and traditional - none of those fancy creative and fancy packaging we see in the market these days. But when you have good quality chocolate, packaging doesn't really matter.

Happy May Day

May is upon us again!

May Day marks the end of winter and the start of summer. How time flies. Didn't we just say goodbye to 2009 not too long ago? And we are now fast approaching mid-2010.

五月天 are playing Beijing tomorrow night and those who are attending, do have fun!
