Passport of a fangirl

Looking through my passport, it appears that my past year travel have been solely for Mayday events @_@

20100923 五月天 @ Nokia X3-02 發表會

Here are the videos from the Nokia X3-02 event - featuring performance by Mayday (they sang two songs: DNA and 離開地球表面) Ashin messed up the lines while singing the second verse of 離開地球表面 LOL

And here's the final part of the video of Mayday playing games (there are 3 parts)

五月天代言Nokia X3-02

It's so good to see the band back in the news again. After what seem like a rather long Mayday-less week

This time they are promoting Nokia's X3-02 (NOKIA X3 Touch and Type) phone. Somehow to me Mayday doesn't seem to be the right band to be endorsing Nokia - a brand associated with being boring and uncool

Me, myself & 阿信

The other night I was tweeting with Hui Feng and she mentioned that she had photos of Ashin with me and my sign. woohoo! She sent me 46 photos and they were great shots :)) That's the most photos I've got of myself from that event.

Thank you so much Hui Feng!! *muaks muaks* I wonder why I never asked her about the photos earlier. It's been awhile since that event but oh well... here are a couple of Hui Feng's photos from that night:

this pic is ridiculously funny ROFL that expression on his face! A big thank you Ashin for endorsing my board hehe ^^
this is my fav shot of the lot *gushing*
another shot that i like though this one's slightly blurry. Ashin's got that cheeky grin

Halo Reach in KL

Bro gave me a Halo Reach flyer today, cheekily thinking that I am somewhat interested in the game. For the record I am only interested in the game's spokesperson in Taiwan!

It looks like the game reached our shores the day after it was released in Taiwan

JYJ showcase in KL 16 Oct 2010

Now don't get me wrong I am neither a DBSK/JYJ fan nor am I a kpop fan. It just so happen that my close friend Abby is a huge kpop/DBSK fan. This is a fan service from your friendly neighbourhood blogger :D

JYJ (Jejung Yuchun Junsu) showcase has just been confirmed happening in KL at Mid Valley Convention Center on 16 October 2010. What a choice of venue. I doubt if it'll be able to accomodate the legions of KL kimchi fans. I hope Mid Valley don't collapse that weekend LOL

*edit* It seems the local promoter may postpone the event to early December as requested by JYJ's management. Why on earth did they announce the event before finalising the date?

Ashin's 近在咫尺 cameo

I've been waiting for 近在咫尺 [Close To You] to reach our shores, just so I can watch Ashin's cameo :) Till I saw this being posted online. I guess I can scrap my plan of watching it on the big screen

Blue shadows

If you've noticed the change here today.. my blog got a facelift. At last.

I've added colour - there are now two tones of my favourite colour blue. And in addition, all my blog entries are individually segregated. Best of all, I've expended the width of the blog so I can now post bigger pictures and videos

Parcel

A parcel that came in the mail today (not for me though)

Salvaged the envelope so I could keep the stamps *dork alert* xD

How to make a flag banner

Found some photos during housekeeping and decided I should do fan service by posting them here. A step by step guide to make a flag banner.

Before I begin, an intro to how the flag banner idea came about. It was made in anticipation of seeing Ash at the Bangkok Rock Festival last year - which didn't happen due to the airport closure and protests :( I wanted a really big banner so a conventional board is out of the question. That's when I came up with the idea to make a flag banner. I was too cheap to explore the idea of having it professionally made so I opted for DIY.

How hard can it be to cut and stitch a few pieces of cloth together? Not at all. But it is a rather arduous and meticulous time consuming process.

Step by step
After identifying the size and image, the next thing is to transfer the image onto paper. I didn't have large sized paper at home so I had my image transferred onto a collage of A4 papers taped together haha. I know it looks sloppy but hey it gets the job done.

on my bathroom door - guess how many A4 papers were used in this collage

Thereafter I had the image cut on a white cloth using the paper cutting from above

The next step was sewing the white cloth onto the flag, which took me hours and hours because I did not have a sewing machine. LOL. Yes, I stitched them completely by hand @_@

And after 12 hours of labour - here's how it turned out. Measuring more than 5 feet across !

I had a Mayday one made as well after the Ash one, but it was nowhere as big

Taipei bound

The yearend holiday season is upon us again (well almost..) and I'm finalising my vacation plans. Will be heading to Taipei for a week in November. My third trip there this year. Looking forward to hanging out with Tik.. I still have some Mayday stuffs with her =]

I'm constantly craving for Taiwanese mango ice. Not the ones at Ice Monster, which IMHO are way overrated. The portion of mango there are generous however the shaved ice is too coarse. Too crunchy for my liking.

mango ice @ Ice Monster

Among the various ice dessert I've tried in Taiwan, I love the shaved mango ice at 幸春三兄妹冰品店 the best. They serve really yummy Snow Ice [雪花冰] - shaved so fine that they taste like soft snow in your mouth. The shaved ice tastes so good even on its own, minus the mango *drools*

Camera shy

I was browsing for photos from today evening's 酷馬特映會 in Taipei and came across this photo taken from yesterday's Halo 3 Reach event.

Who's that shy guy hiding his face behind that game box? LOL

Death of the CD player

Does anyone buy CD player anymore these days? Does anyone still use CDs?

I've been having problem with my CD player which I had used for 6-7 years. It started to skip recently and its doing it on a range of CDs, particularly locally pressed ones (goes to show how bad the quality of our local discs are)

So two weekends ago I bought a new CD player.

I had no idea how cheap CD players are these days. They're cheaper than MP3 player. There are also far fewer CD players in the market in this day and age of digital music. By the look of things, they'd probably be obsolete in the next few decades

Edgey returns

While we're on the topic of games, here's an upcoming one: Ace Attorney Investigations 2

Perfect prosecutor Edgey-poo is back!!!!

I played the first game in March this year - has it only been 6 months? Felt like it's been well over a year

The announcement of the sequel by Capcom came in time for the Tokyo Game Show which is happening this week. Gamers will get to sample the game at Capcom's booth at the game show

Capcom has confirmed that Miles Edgeworth (that's Edgey-poo for you), sidekick Kay Faraday and loveable Dick Gumshoe will be returning. As much as I like Edgey, his wardrobe needs to be update! That atrociously gay coloured jacket has to go LOL

So far there's no announcement its release date. It'll probably be a good year or so before the game hits the market, and another year thereafter before we see the English version.

20100904 五月天 @ 2010苗栗水舞嘉年華藝文活動

Mayday entertained some 40,000 fans at the Miaoli Music Fountain Festival [苗栗水舞嘉年華藝文活動] held at the county stadium last night where tickets for the event had been snapped up by fans the week before. Some fans had gone to the extend of camping for several nights just to secure tickets to the rock zone!

Themed Rock Night「搖滾之夜」, the concert also featured performances by fellow B'in Music artists: Ding Dang, Magic Power, Cosmos People, Won Fu, 831 and Champion.

Mayday took stage at 10:00PM, performed DNA、離開地球表面、你是唯一、知足、突然好想你 and hometown Miaoli boy Guan You sang 憨人. Fans were chanting encore after they had left stage at 10:36PM and the band returned to sing more songs till past 11PM.

A parcel's round the world journey

Back in April this year I mailed a poster to a friend in Toronto. I promised to send her a DNA Mohegan Sun poster if I manage to get enough of them from the concert promoter. She had returned to Toronto by the time by the time I picked up the posters in New York the day after the concert so I had to mail it to her.

I packed the poster in a USPS parcel box that Elly used to send me posters some years ago. Unfortunately my friend never got to see the parcel I sent her - it reached her address some 4 months after I mailed it @@ and she had returned to HK by then. Canada Post didn't allow her friend to collect the parcel on her behalf so the item was returned to sender.

A couple of weeks later the parcel arrived 'home' after a voyage around the world. It was in such a sorry state. The box which was originally shaped like an oversized Toblerone look like it had been run over by a truck. Sadly the poster housed inside did not survived the journey.

There was an apology note from Canada Post.

For months when the parcel hadn't reached Toronto, my friend blamed Canada Post. It wasn't till a few days ago when I removed the stamps before chucking out the parcel did I realise that the local post office had mistakenly stamped "SEA MAIL" on the parcel.
