Memories of 中山足球場

Now that I've got my copy of the 100000人。出頭天DVD, I can safely house my two 100000人。出頭天concert wristbands/tickets inside.

I was pretty chuffed when I saw my banner a couple of times during the concert !! hehe. That confirmed my suspicion that most of the DVD footage were taken from Blue Day, i.e the second night.

When I first saw the concert DVD tracklist, I was disappointed that only less than half of the songs sang during the concert at Zhongshan Football Stadium made it to the final cut. This was similar to the previous Born To Love [為愛而生] CD + concert DVD version which also featured predominantly new songs sang at the concert.

Sadly some of my favourite songs from the concert were left out; Ashin's solo version of 私奔到月球, 超人 (such a shame cos Ashin sang it so well that night) and 纯真. I was however glad that 孫悟空 Ver All Crew Out made it on the DVD cos that is a kick-ass version.

Little by Little

For the last couple of weeks I've been listening intensively to my Oasis CDs in anticipation of the upcoming Oasis gig. Albums, singles, boxsets, A-sides, B-sides, you name it ;)

I pulled out my entire Oasis CD collection (totalling 83 on my last count) in an attempt to listen to them all before the gig, which is a mountain of a task. I reckon I'll probably OD on their songs way before I get to the halfway mark

Droolworthy MV

The first video I was looking forward to watching on the MV DVD was 後青春期的詩 (that and 噢買尬 being my favourite songs from the album).

What came as a surprise for me on the MV DVD was the MV for 我心中尚未崩壞的地方. I wasn't particularly fond of that song but I love the MV to bits! It's a very simple MV with washed out colour, a sharp contrast from most of the other MVs in vibrant colour which had MV actors with (sometimes rather confusing) subplots.

is that a Stay Real tee?

Whatever

In my previous post on Oasis I mentioned that I hoped that Noel will sing 'Whatever' at the upcoming Singapore concert on 5 April 2009. I came across this video on YouTube today recorded at Sapporo, Japan last week of Noel singing an acoustic rendition of Whatever !!! OMG OMG!!!!! If he doesn't sing it in Singapore this Sunday I'm so gonna cry LOL

I'm free to be whatever I choose and I'll sing the blues if I want

I didn't manage to find the setlist for the Japan gigs but there were vids from the Japan sets of Noel singing Don't Look Back In Anger, The Masterplan and Waiting For The Rapture in YouTube. Ooooooo I can't wait for Sunday night! ;)

In The Sky of 10000 You & Mayday

After what felt like a rather long wait, my Mayday 100000人。出頭天DVD finally arrived in the mail. It was mailed out 3 days after its release in Taiwan! *grumble grumble*

The pre-order comes with a free poster. It's a double sided poster with a horizontal and vertical side. I like the horizontal side better but it won't be gracing my bedroom wall, though it might be a nice addition to my office room.

Can anyone make any sense of the tagline "Before 1998, After 2008 Our changed and unchanged"?

you can't see it here but the concert DVD has a hologram cover. Nice!

Globetrotting Oasis

Tonight Oasis are playing Osaka, kicking off their Asian tour which will also take them to Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore before crossing the continent to South Africa for shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town (had no idea they were popular in S. Africa!). After the African gigs the lads will head to South America for a couple more gigs before returning to England and Europe in early June for their summer UK stadium supergigs and European summer festivals.

That is one hecka comprehensive world tour - covering 4 different continents in a period of over just 3 months!

Looking forward to watching them live in Singapore next Saturday! There are a few dozen songs I'd love to hear them sing - mostly songs from their first 2 albums together with all the b-sides. I really hope Noel will sing 'Whatever' (he did mention in his blog that they recently played that song for the first time in 12 years)

JJ 1 for 1 ticket offer

I received an offer in my mailbox yesterday for a 1 for 1 JJ Lin concert ticket. It's a pretty darn good deal as it works out to a 50% discount, a considerable amount off for a concert ticket.

The organiser must be desperate to sell off whatever unsold tickets as the concert is approaching this Saturday..

SG encore gig

Barely a week after the announcement of a brand new 2009 D.N.A world tour and the kick off of the tour in HK on 20 May, another date has been added for the upcoming August concert in Singapore. Due to overwhelming response during pre-order for the concert last December, as much as 90% of the tickets had been snapped up after a week of pre-order! An encore concert date is now scheduled for 28 August 2009. Unlike the previous pre-order, there is no 10% discount for early birds :(

Music-Man ticket

I picked up Leehom's Music-Man concert ticket yesterday when I was at Sungei Wang. Decided to get the cheapest RM88 ticket in light of the current economic recession :P LOL I'm just kidding, the ticket is actually for my Indonesian friend from Medan who'll be in town for the concert in May.

Wonder how well tickets are selling.. Business at the ticket booth yesterday was really slow and I didn't see a single customer..

Pretty Green

whoa the logo is so psychedelic

Oasis' Liam Gallagher has just launched his own fashion label called Pretty Green, named after a song by The Jam. Umm.. sounds like a ladies' clothing line :P Well, Liam has always been the fashionable one in the band (though Noel was the one nominated for this year's Brat Awards for Best Dressed Male..)

No designs have been unveiled yet as the official launch is in June. The website states that "Pretty Green is an up-front, straight talking, classic clothing range owned, founded and designed by Liam Gallagher. The Pretty Green team is made up of key industry professionals. The clothing range, which is entirely 'limited edition', will include classic designs across footwear, denim, jackets, trench coats, parkas, t-shirts, knitwear, hats, scarves and accessories; all subject to Liam's final approval. It looks like Pretty Green's clothing won't be designed by Liam (thank goodness LOL).

I wonder if the rest of the band will be decked out in Pretty Green outfit come June. In an interview, Liam joked at his Oasis bandmates would only get to wear the clothes "if they get their hands in their pockets". Hahaha!

"Clothes and music are my passion. I'm not here to rip anyone off and I'm not
doing it for the money either. I'm doing it cuz there's a lack of stuff out
there of the things I would wear"

D.N.A world tour

Mayday have just announced a brand new world tour - DNA五月天創造演唱會. This is their 3rd tour in a short span of 2 years, after 2007's JUMP! tour and 2008's Down To Earth - are the guys permanently on tour?!

D.N.A world tour will kick off on 20 & 21 May 2009 in Hong Kong at the Coliseum. Looks like another trip to HK is in order :)

Out of Africa

I couldn’t fathom what the fuss was all about, but when the Resident Evil 5 Collector’s boxset arrived via FedEx delivery last week, I knew the TV would be off-limits for the next few weeks.

Sudafan had pre-ordered the Collector’s boxset online months ago and the boxset came with a copy of the game housed in a metal case, which presumably is limited edition; a pendant, mini Chris Redfield figurine and tri-cell bag (don't ask me, I have no idea what that is but it look like it'd be great to use for shopping LOL)

Like most games I've seen on the PS3, the graphics is pretty amazing. You can even team up with your buddy in a co-operative online mode to battle those Majinis

As far as I'm concerned, I hope sudafan will finish RE5 before my 100000人。出頭天DVD arrives next week hehe

Don't Believe The Truth

Reuters had reported last week that Oasis's two concerts in China were cancelled because the Chinese government found out that Noel Gallagher had participated in a Free Tibet concert in 1997. But is this really the truth?

In response to the news, China's Ministry of Culture stated that it DID NOT ban Oasis' two scheduled concerts in Shanghai and Beijing. Apparently the real reason the shows were cancelled was because the promoter of the China concerts had some problems with cash flow, according to a manager with Beijing-based performing company Suoyou, one of the concerts' promoters, in a Beijing Times report.

The story sounds dubious to me, but we'll never know the truth.

The cancellation of the shows is China's loss and I'm thankful that they were cancelled else they wouldn't have slotted the Singapore gig on 5 April :P

Mobile Guitar Hero

rock on!

Since getting my new mobile phone, I've been addicted to playing Guitar Rock Tour. Gameplay is fairly simple, but by no means easy (I need a few more fingers on each of my hand! :P) Don't think I'll ever come close to be as good as Guitar Hero Masa LOL

Unlike Guitar Hero, there's no singing in the songs. Only few rock songs are featured in the game (with various difficulty level) and the game loading time is painfully slow! Sadly none of my favourite rock songs are featured, though I do like Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box and The Police's Message In A Bottle. Not too crazy bout David Bowie's Heroes. I like Noel Gallagher's version better, which appeared as a b-side on D'You Know What I Mean? single

The Girl In The Dirty Shirt

In anticipation of the upcoming Oasis gig, I turned my wardrobe upside down searching for my old Oasis tee, which surprisingly is still in one piece :P

I bought the tee donkey years ago at Camden Town in London for 5 quid (ssssh it's a bootleg tee LOL) and after all these years it looks a little worn out though the printed band logo is still intact. You can tell how old it is by the logo, that's the original logo featured on their 1994 debut album.

Oasis in Singapore

whoa how does Gem lean back like that?

Just last week Oasis were banned from playing in Shanghai and Beijing after the Chinese authorities discovered that Noel Gallagher had performed in a Free Tibet concert back in 1997. (Noel dear, don't look back in anger haha!!) The band were disappointed as the Chinese concerts, if it had went on, would be the band's first ever gigs in China.

Well fret not Oasis fans in Asia as Oasis have announced their concert in Singapore on 5 April 2009 at the Indoor Stadium. And yes, KL is once again not on their list. They have played Singapore and Bangkok in 2006 - I really don't think they'll come here.. EVER.

Interview With The Vampire

Mayday have just released the MV for Interview With The Vampire「夜訪吸血鬼」featuring Ashin as Mr Vampire LOL. The MV features a French Chinese model as Mr Vampire's victim, whom Ashin attempted to speak to in English (haha!). According to Ashin in the interview above, he only managed "excuse me" before she replied (in semi-Taiwanese/Mandarin) "bo yao kin, wah eh hiao jiang zhong wen" which translates to Nevermind, I can speak Chinese

Lucky Ashin didn't have to converse in English with her, knowing how *BAD* his English is, he can't even say "APOLOGY" properly! Oh dear :P

In the 夜訪吸血鬼 MV Ashin is sporting a new Stay Real tee with the skull design from the Let's Rock lanyard, which look almost like the design below *makes shopping list note for next Taipei trip* ;)

New cell

I've a new mobile phone! ;)

It's a Sony Ericsson walkman phone model W595, almost identical to my previous W580i (which I traded in to buy the new phone) I hadn't planned on changing my phone so soon but 2 buttons on the W580i got jammed. I don't know how they got jammed, maybe cos I text excessively on my mobile LOL. Initially button 6 was jammed and when button 3 became jammed, it was time to replace the old mobile phone.

The W595 is an upgraded W580i with better specifications - including a 2GB memory card, 3G feature, 3.2 megapixel camera and a new interface. The media section now has the same interface as the PSP. It's available in four colours (Jungle Grey, Lava Black, Cosmopolitan White, Active Blue) and I picked grey cos my previos W580i was also grey.

The biggest difference is the phone keypad. Unlike the previous older walkman series slide phones, the keypads on the W595 is on the opposite side which is pretty annoying and will take some time to get used to.

Misty morning

It's been a really busy week and I'm glad that the long weekend is here.

I got back from Bangkok on Tuesday, went back to work on Wednesday and took the day off on Thursday for a daytrip to Johor to attend my gran's first year anniversary of passing prayers. Prayers was suppose to start at 9:30AM so we hit the road at 5:30AM. It was the first time we started our journey south so early.

A strange thing happened along the way, right after we our coffee break at the Pagoh rest stop. It was 10 minutes before 8:00AM, not long after we left Pagoh when we encountered misty weather! Now I've travelled the north south highway many times, but never this early so I'm not sure if it's a common phenomenon.. Too bad it didn't last long, as soon the sun was up, the sky was clear again.

is this the way to Silent Hill?

Back from Bangkok

I got back from a wonderful 4 day weekend in Bangkok on Tuesday. It was really good to see my Thai friends again :) The last time I saw them was 2 years ago in KL. Jib and Art stayed in my house then, and my mom was very fond of Jib hehe

Much thanks to Jib and Tangmo for their warm hospitality. They came to pick me up at the airport and drove me to the hotel (battled a horrendous 1+ hour traffic jam) then took me out for lunch and made sure we were very well fed throughout our stay in Bangkok.

Food was cheap & tasty and readily available in Bangkok. Roadside stalls were everywhere on almost every street in Bangkok selling all sorts of local fare. The original authentic Tom Yum Kung was tasty and we had it almost every meal LOL. Jib introduced me to Som Tum (Payaya Salad) and I know it doesn't look it in the photo below but it's really yummy and I love it!

Over the weekend Jib took us shopping at Platinum Fashion Mall, Siam Square, CentralWorld, MBK and the infamous Chatuchak Market. My luggage was empty when I arrived and was packed to the brim by the time we left ;) Shopping was another enjoyable experience in Bangkok. Malls were aplenty in Bangkok. Budget shopping, designer shops, you name it they have it all in Bangkok.

bootleg tees on sale at Chatuchak for only 100 baht a piece
The other thing I enjoyed was riding the tuk-tuk haha. We made sure we got to ride the tuk-tuk each time we needed to take a cab

tuk-tuk
Jib had taken the day off work on Monday to accompany us (in the extreme hot weather!) to visit the various Buddha shrines - the Grand Palace of the Emerald Buddha, the Sleeping Buddha, 4 Face Buddha. I had no idea there were so many Buddha shrines in Bangkok..
