20140111 Mayday 五月天 Special Live 2014 in OSAKA, Namba Hatch

This was my second time watching Mayday in concert in Osaka, having seen them performing at the Summer Sonic Festival almost 2 years ago. This time the concert venue was Namba Hatch.

We arrived at Namba Hatch early afternoon. The venue wasn’t what I expected. From the outside it did not look like a concert venue. In fact it reminded me of ATT4FUN in Taipei. Namba Hatch is housed in a multi storey building and the actual concert hall is located on the 4-5 floors (if I remember correctly...) 

When we arrived there was a long line of people waiting to buy the special Japan only merchandise. Not surprisingly, most of the people in line were non-Japanese.

The queue to enter started at 4:00PM. I was rather fortunate that my Japanese friend had gotten us a #65 queue number. Then we got even luckier just moments before entering as my friend's friend handed us her extra tickets which she didn't manage to sell off, number #55 which secured us a spot at the front of the stage!! :) The venue, as expected, was rather small. I think it had a capacity of 2,000. The stage was awfully small and during the start of the gig, the guys bumped into one another when moving about.

I love small intimate gigs and this one was just perfect. Being down in the front we were in very very close proximity to the stage. Weeeee!!! It was nice to hear Mayday speaking a lot more Japanese this time around, and Ashin sang the Japanese version of OAOA by himself!

The set was about 2 and a half hour long. It was kinda weird stepping out of a Mayday gig when it was barely even dinner time. And then, it was back to Tokyo to catch the Sunday concert.
