So on Sunday it was back to Tokyo for the second concert. The amusing thing about Zepp Tokyo is the entry system. Concert-goers are segregated by their queue numbers into different sections and there is a large flipboard at the front displaying the current queue number. Unlike Namba Hatch where queue number announcements are actually made, at Zepp Tokyo it was like watching a scoreboard and waiting to dash in when your queue number is up.
Entry was not as organized as Namba Hatch and there were several queue jumpers, i.e people who went in not according to their queue number. The ushers didn’t even seem to bother with queue jumpers. From my previous experience, I’ve always found the crowd in Tokyo to be rowdier compared to Osaka..
Zepp Tokyo was slightly bigger and accommodated about 1000 more people compared to Namba Hatch.
The setlist at Zepp Tokyo pretty much mirrored the Saturday concert in Osaka, the biggest difference was that Ashin sang 2 Japanese songs! (OAOA and 傷心的人別聽慢歌) Impressive!
It’s a nice concert venue but the sound system leaves much to be desired. The music was too loud and drowned out Ashin’s vocals.
But all in all, it was a great concert and to be able to see Mayday at the height of their popularity in a small intimate setting.
